David Rankin has been a technologist since 1983. He holds a Certified Government Chief Information Officer (CGCIO) credential from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Government, a Master of Science degree in Technology Systems and a Post Graduate Certificate in Information Assurance from East Carolina University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Media from Hampton University.

​A life-long learner, David has several professional certifications, including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL). These certifications validate his expertise in IT leadership, best in class cybersecurity, information security program management, and IT service management.

​As an adjunct professor of Information Assurance at the UNC Chapel Hill School of Information and Library Sciences, he shares his knowledge and experience with future IT security professionals. This role exemplifies his commitment to nurturing talent and promoting excellence in the profession.
